Capillary prosthesis Medical term used by the doctors to indicate wig, hairpiece or volumizer. The capillary prosthesis is hypoallergenic, light and comfortable.
Extensions Extensions serve to change your appearance. The most common example: your hair is mid-long and you dream of having hair down to your waist. By wearing a" long hair" extension in your colour, you will obtain this result immediately without waiting for your own hair to grow to the desired length.
Extra hair This term indicates wigs, hairpieces as well as volumizers
Hairpiece A hairpiece, so called "head top" indicates 1/2 or 1/4 of the head or even a small piece (to cover a located pelade for example). They are two kinds :
  • fixed : it is held with a few drops of special glue or with an adhesive on a bald or intentionally shaven part because hair too thin
  • removable: they are fixed on existent hair by means of mini-hair slides either by tying or by weaving
Head top Modern term considered more appropriate than "toupee" to indicate a hairpiece or a capillary complement, particularly for men
Lace front This technique can apply to wigs as well as to hairpieces in synthetic fibre or natural hair. A very thin Lace or Welded Mono Lace is placed on the front of the unit from temple to temple and back about 2"-3" or so. The lace is invisible to the eye and hair appears to be growing from the scalp, even with up close scrutiny. The lace front is attached with a special lace tape or special adhesive which is applied to the skin in lace area only. Order to measure only Lace
Monofilament is a term used to describe the way the inside of the cap is constructed. Monofilament wigs have many unique features, including a hand-tied crown, which makes it easy to part the hair in any direction for maximum styling versatility. Their unique mono top creates the illusion of skin where the hair is parted Monofilament
Natural hair Made with real human hair of 3 different origins (Asiatic or European or Brazilian) the natural hair wig can be treated as your own hair
Synthetic hair Made from synthetic fibre, less expensive than human hair, the synthetic wigs look much like the human wigs according to the quality, generally very good, of the fibre. Unlike wigs in natural hair, you cannot brush or colour synthetic hair
Volumizer The volumizer is meant to add volume to your hair where you need it. One can choose it either in synthetic or natural hair and decide to wear it permanently or to take it off every evening. The volumizer is constituted of a setting in fine meshes through which your own hair is threaded, so that it holds firmly on your head and you can forget about it.You can have a shower, do your hair with no problem. If you prefer wearing it during the day only, it is then fixed very easily with mini-hair slides
Weft Weft or weaving means that hair is hand tied or mahine tied. Hand tied hair is designated as "hand made weft". Machine tied hair is designated as "machine made weft". Weft
Wig This term applies to whole head only
Wig cap Several categories of wefts are differentiated according to their mode of construction : entirely machine made, with or without monofilament, half-machine made, half hand made, entirely hand made.
Even if it is not made to order, the cap can be adjusted to envelop the skull well without restricting the blood circulation After a few days, you completely forget you are wearing it.
Bonnet
Whole head Modern term considered more appropriate than wig, particularly for men
